Last week’s fixtures threw in a major upset at Bournemouth where 12.8% of KOTH players backed Arsenal to win and were ultimately let down. This coupled with John Stones’ last minute winner for City at Wolves made for an exciting weekend of Premier League action. Here’s my predictions for this weekend’s fixtures.
Leicester City vs Notts Forest
This weekend’s football starts with a FNF Midlands Derby. Both Leicester and Notts Forrest won last weekend, and Leicester will be full of it after coming back from 2-0 down. However, Forest are unbeaten away from home this season so I expect these two to cancel each other out.
Prediction: Draw, no winner ❌
Everton vs Fulham
Everton are on the up and are unbeaten in their last 5. Fulham on the other hand have lost their last two albeit to City and Villa. Everton at home and hitting a bit of form, I think they will nick it but it will be close.
Prediction: Everton… just 👑
Brighton vs Wolves
Wolves will be feeling a bit deflated going into this one after City’s late winner last weekend but there were positives to take from the game. Brighton, on the other hand, will be confident of a comfortable home win after a good win at Newcastle. Can only see this going one way…
Prediction: Brighton 👑
Brentford vs Ipswich
Brentford have a habit of scoring early goals this season and Ipswich will have to work hard to get anything out of this game considering Brentford have won 4 out of their last 5 at home. Ipswich are yet to win a Premier League game this season and I don’t see that changing this weekend.
Prediction: Brentford 👑
Manchester City vs Southampton
Not much to say really, probably a case of how many?
Prediction: City 👑
Aston Villa vs Bournemouth
Tough one this, Bournemouth had a great result last week and Villa have a tough mid week Champions League fixture. Not much between the two sides when you look at the H2H. Both teams have won 2 of the last 5 between them, with 1 game ending in a draw.
Prediction: Draw, no winner ❌
Chelsea vs Newcastle
Feels like it should be a big game, but Newcastle’s start to the season has been indifferent. Newcastle haven’t won in 4 and I’m not confident that will change this weekend. But you never know which Chelsea will turn up. After 4 wins on the bounce, they haven’t won in 2. The H2H doesn’t give too much away either, 3 draws in the last 5 meetings.
Prediction: Draw, no winner ❌
Crystal Palace vs Tottenham
Crystal Palace, who have lost their last 3 games and are yet to win in the league this season, are against a Spurs side who score plenty of goals and have beaten Palace in each of their last 5 meetings.
Prediction: Tottenham 👑
West Ham vs Man United
West Ham have won their last 2 home fixtures against Man United but neither team have shown enough this season to suggest they will win this game. Man United weren’t convincing in their win over Brentford and West Ham were rolled over by Spurs. Hard one to call.
Prediction: Draw, no winner ❌
Arsenal vs Liverpool
The big fixture of the weekend. Liverpool are top of the league after winning their last 4 and Arsenal will be hoping to bounce back after their first defeat of the season. The head to head between these two is fairly even but Liverpool haven’t won at Arsenal since 2022.
Prediction: close but Arsenal 👑
My predictions this week have been heavily weighted towards the home teams with Spurs the only team I’ve backed to win away. But looking at them, there’s a couple of teams who could nick all 3 points away from home. You wouldn’t be surprised if Man United or Arsenal won this weekend but I’m not confident enough to back them.
As for King of the Hill this week, I’ll be picking Aston Villa. They’re very good at home and despite a midweek fixture, I think the will have too much for Bournemouth. If I was being brave and keeping the big clubs for later rounds, I’d back Everton. They’re hitting a bit of form but Fulham are a strong side and could win the game, let only nick a draw.
Confident pick: Villa 👑
Brave pick: Everton 🤔
